Handing Sold Work to Your Delivery Team

3 March 2026

A clean sales process still fails if the person who sold the job leaves the delivery team guessing about promises made.

In many Australian service firms the owner sells and a technician, designer, or clinician delivers. The gap between those two roles is where goodwill evaporates.

A handoff note does not need software. It needs the agreed scope, the exclusions the client accepted, the start date, and any personal preferences that came up in conversation. One page is enough for most jobs under ten thousand dollars.

Build the handoff into your stage map as a required exit before work begins. If the note is incomplete, delivery does not start. That discipline protects both the client relationship and your margins.

Owners who resist writing handoffs usually discover that the fifteen minutes spent on the note save hours of rework and awkward client calls later.
